Biography
Originally from a dairy farm in Wisconsin, I graduated with a BS, majoring in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2010. I moved to Colorado to pursue an MS in Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University, which I finished in 2012. I completed my PhD in Environmental Chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2017. At MIT, I focused on understanding various interactions between air quality and agriculture using satellite, ground, and aircraft measurements along with atmospheric chemistry and crop production models. I brought my numerical analysis and modeling expertise as a post-doc to the Commane group at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory at Columbia, working on various projects including improving our understanding and representation of the carbon system in Arctic and boreal ecosystems and quantifying urban emission changes in New York City. Recently, I transitioned to SEAS at Harvard University to continue both Arctic and urban air quality work. I enjoy traveling, visiting breweries, skiing, and cheering on my teams (Go Badgers!). My partner, Sean, and I live with our cat, Walter, in Somerville, Massachusetts.
